Best Breakfasts In Denver: 5 Great Spots You Must Try!
Best Breakfasts In Denver: 5 Great Spots You Must Try!
Do you love breakfast as much as I do? I must confess that I have eaten at just about every breakfast restaurant around Denver and here are my top 5 spots to chow down.
#1 Denver Biscuit Co
There’s a reason Denver Biscuit Co typically has an hour wait on the weekends and sometimes even a wait during the weekdays. The honest truth is that their biscuit breakfast sandwiches are out of this world. Their soft rich flakey biscuits are turned into mammoth breakfast creations that I would stuff in my face everyday of the week! They have several locations around town but my preferred spot is the one off Colfax.
Denver Like A Local Tip: Order the Dahlia or the Franklin
Dahlia - Be sure to upgrade to the french toast biscuit
Franklin - Add an over medium egg
#2 Racines
Racines has long been a favorite of Denver locals and it’s certainly a favorite of mine. It’s not only their expansive menu that really gets me (over 25 egg dishes just for breakfast alone) but it’s the feeling you get when you walk in. Racine's has the nostalgia of a diner where everyone knows your name and that comfortable feeling of being in your best friends home. There’s something for everyone here. I love to sit at the bar, enjoy a piping hot cup of coffee and split one of their enormous breakfast dishes (ps all their dishes are enormous). If it’s a nice day definitely opt to sit on the patio.
Denver Like a Local Tip:Dishes are huge! Split one with a friend.
#3 Jelly
Jelly is a super cute retro themed breakfast joint in Cap Hill. I’ve been coming here since they opened about 7 years ago and I remain a loyal fan. The weekends can get a bit crazy with the Denver brunch crowd, but if you can manage to sneak in a weekday visit you will have a wonderful time. Unlike many breakfast places around town they only offer bottomless mimosas during the weekdays and on your birthday they will surprise you with complimentary donuts holes.
Denver Like A Local Tip: Order the breakfast burrito smothered with green chile
#4 Sassafras
Chicken Fried Eggs and Buffalo Hash + bloody mary sampler... need I say more?
#5 Root Down - Weekend Brunch
I saved the best for last! Let me just say that Root Down changed the way I think and feel about breakfast. Maybe it’s because I know the ingredients of my breakfast came from their onsite garden, or that they are 100% powered by wind energy but there is just something magical about this place. Anything you order on their menu is bomb.com (can I still say that?) and opt for the bottomless blood orange mimosas.
Denver Like A Local Tip: Make a reservation for the weekend, Root Down is always packed.
